Celtic coins some very rare and distinctive specimens

Celtic Coins 100 BC - 100 AD, A wonderful specimen.
The regional Celtic tribes of Britannia made their own coins in the first century BC. at the beggining they copied the Continental Celtic types, which were also a sort of copy of the royal Macedonian and Thracian issues.
Each tribe made gold Staters, silver and bronze coins. Even after the Romans under the emperor Claudius conquered the Britannia tribes such as the Iceni, they continued to mint their own local coins. Following Boudicca’s revolt and Agricola’s campaigns in Britannia, local Celtic coinage was stopped, and replaced with Roman issued coins that were struck to pay the troops scattered along the frontier. During the rebellion of Carausius and Allectus in the late third century AD, several local mints, including one in London, were opened to make coins. Upon the recovery of the province by Constantius I, the mint at London was made an official imperial mint and continued to make Roman coins until they abandoned Britannia in the early fifth century.
