Henry III hammered coins
Welcome to Hammered coins UK,
Thanks for stopping by, I set this site up because I'm a keen metal detectorist and I love coins especially early Hammered Coins, they are steeped in history, and not 1 single Hammered Coin is the same as another due to the individual way each coin striker belted the metals, the ravages of time also make Hammered Coins unique and fascinating, to the left you can see a nice hoard of 13th century medieval coins, Henry III Hammered Coins 1216 - 1272 to be exact,(including one Scottish half coin), these were found by a metal detector in a Norfolk field, as you can see these were very well preserved and I would think that the finder was a very happy chappy indeed, (I wish I'd had found them)the majority of the coins had been cut into halfs to make half-pennies, this is how people spent money back then as there wasn't much of a change system in place.
Anyway back to why the sites been put together, my idea is to show off my metal detctor finds and also if you have any comments or would like to show off your metal detector finds or maybe you'd like to show your collection of Hammered coins then drop me an email and I'll be happy to show you finds or collections, afterall we all share a common interest at the end of the day, so feel free to have a poke around the site there will be plenty to look at as the site grows so book mark us and return often, as you never know you might find a coin or 2 that takes your fancy, there will always be hammered coins for sale on here so its possible that you can complete your collections without having to travel or get stuck in a boggy old field.
